History and Relocation of Philae Temple
Philae temple is from the age of the pharaohs and is a centre for the cult of Isis the goddess of magic, motherhood and healing. During the construction of the High Dam a relocation was deemed necessary and thus the temple complex was painstakingly dismantled and relocated onto a different island. This UNESCO mission was one of the greatest feats of archeology.
A Magical Island Setting on the Nile
One of the many aspects of Philae Temple that sets it apart from other temples is its setting on an island on the Nile where access is only gained by boat. Surrounded by calm waters and beauty Philae has a serene almost dream-like aura. Motorboats offer the traveller views of the Nile and surrounding islands before reaching the holy shrine.

Beautiful Architecture and Mythological Reliefs
Beautifully preserved, the temples feature pylons, courtyards and sanctuaries and are richly decorated with carvings and inscriptions telling stories from Egyptian mythology about Isis and Osiris. When added with the romantic and natural setting Philae is truly one of the most photogenic temples in the country.
